Welcome to Longacre Elementary School!
Dear Families,
It is my great honor to welcome you to Longacre Elementary School, a place where learning and leadership thrive. We are proud to be recognized as a Leader in Me Legacy School, a prestigious distinction achieved by only a select number of schools in Michigan and around the world. This honor reflects our sustained commitment to excellence, leadership development, and the consistent integration of the 8 Habits into every aspect of school life.
To earn Legacy School recognition, a school must demonstrate a deep, enduring commitment to creating a culture of leadership. At Longacre, we do this by fostering student voice, building strong relationships among students, staff, and families, and embedding leadership principles throughout our school community.

Longacre is home to approximately 380 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our dynamic staff is passionate about providing an exemplary education that supports both academic achievement and personal growth. We work collaboratively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and engage in thoughtful instructional planning guided by the following essential questions:
- What do we want our students to know and be able to do?
- How will we know if they are learning?
- What will we do if they have not yet learned the intended outcomes?
- What will we do if they already know the intended outcomes?
In addition to our dedicated classroom teachers, our team includes specialists such as a Special Education Teacher, Resource Room Teacher, School Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech and Occupational Therapists, Art, Physical Education, and Vocal Music Teachers, a Media Aide, a Bilingual Teacher, and both General and Special Education Paraprofessionals. Our cafeteria manager and noon supervisors ensure a safe and enjoyable lunchtime and recess experience. Our office staff and custodians work tirelessly to support our school community and maintain a welcoming, high-quality learning environment.
Our vibrant school culture is greatly enhanced by strong family and community partnerships. Parents actively engage in school life through our PTA and the Leader in Me Parent Lighthouse Team, contributing their time, talents, and leadership to enrich our students’ educational experiences.
As principal, I am deeply grateful to be part of this extraordinary community. At Longacre, we believe in educating the whole child and building a strong foundation for future success. I warmly welcome you and your family to our Longacre “home” and look forward to partnering with you in support of your child’s journey.
With gratitude and pride,
Jennifer DiBella
Principal, Longacre Elementary School
